Our Spam Policy
If you are seeing this page, it is because someone has abused
our redirection services to promote spam.
Our Spam Policy is quite simple and easy to understand: It's not allowed,
period. Any redirect that generates complaints will itself be redirected to
this page.
It also means that We are not at all happy about this, and will take further
measures to bring the abusers to their knees. Indeed, we may even go
one step further and consider the possibility of a patellectomy -- without
any anesthesia. The abuser has not only wasted the time of myself and my
ISP, but has also tarnished the reputation of UrlBit.Us.
Know then, therefore, that Spammers are not only unwelcomed, they are also in
danger of some very unsavory times.
If you have been spammed by an abuser of our free URL Shortening and
Redirection service, UrlBit.Us apologizes. While we make our service
freely avaliable, we cannot really prevent this type of abuse.
However, we can address the issue once it is brought to our attention.
To ISPs, Spamcops, and other fighters of Evil Unwanted Email
We are sorry that you have been tasked with the job of "cleaning up"
the spam that goes through your networks. But understand that UrlBit.Us
does not condone spam; nor does it have control over how users of our
redirection service may use the service. UrlBit.Us is not the problem; the
source of the spam is.
We would therefore urge you to direct your efforts against the source
of the problem, and not bother those who do not share in this responsibility
with spam. We do not condone spam nor promote the use of our services for spam.
If you ask politely, we may address your concerns and take action on our part.
But threatening to shut us down when we are not the abusers is not the way
to go. Focus your efforts on the source of the spam and not us. Just
as you would not shut down the phone company simply because someone used the
phone to harass someone, nor should you want to see a service such as ours
shut down merely because one person out of 10,000 decided to abuse our services.
"Scorched Earth" Policies are never good and does far more harm than you can
possibly imagine. Meanwhile, the spammers will simply jump to another service to
abuse, laughing that you have shut down innocent bystanders and not touch them
at all.
While we share your frustration in dealing with the Spam issue, we will not
solve these issues by shooting each other. Reserve your ammo for the actual
perpetrators of the spam, not those exploited by the spam themselves. In this
country, we generally frown upon shooting the victims. Please reflect that
style of respect in your attitudes. Thank You.
To Everyone Else
The Internet is vast and therein many possibilities awaits us.
There are always a few who seek to spoil the party for the rest of us,
but let not that deter you. Let's deal with the real source of the
problems and move on.
